A Midsummer Night's Dream
by William Shakespeare

To celebrate 25 years of both The Uckfield Millennium Green and The Millennium Players, Sarah Cannon directed A Midsummer Night's Dream.

With a cast of 36, including a musical ensemble of vocalists and instruments, playing 600 year old songs. Musical Director, Carine Roberts also composed a piece to accompany 'The Fairy Lullaby'. It was an immersive production where, once past the box office entrance, the audience are transported back 500 years to a magical woodland. They take their seats and the story unfolds around them.

The focus of this production was the fairy element, British folklore and Pagan mythology, the inspiration that weaves itself through Shakespeare's play. Children, playing elves and fairies, shared Puck's lines, to allow them to experience the melodic language and to be wholly part of the narrative.

              - Sarah Cannon, Director

'Night and silence
who comes here?'
'And this weak and idle theme
No more yielding but a dream.'
